Re:titled

Inspired by Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Still series, Re:titled reimagines feminine tropes in our current visual culture, from movies to TikTok trends. It is an attempt to further define the “female gaze”" by pairing the standardized depictions of women through the “male gaze,” and subverting them through diverse feminine perspectives. I collaborate with my subjects to create portraits that capture a bit of their identity through ways they express themselves already. Reexamining what strength means outside of the masculine, we used beauty, pose, and fashion to empower each other and create the rightful representations we wish we had a children.

I exhibit these images on large scale vinyl so that they can be experienced in a visceral and impactful ways. The larger size allows the subjects to take up space freely. The images become more than just photographs; they become physical presences that campaign to be felt.
